As early as 1985, our founders were working in the healthcare industry. The genesis of our company is a prescription discount program delivering discounts to those who need it most. Throughout the 1990’s Citizens has been working with Medco and their pharmacy benefits management program, acting as a marketing arm to Medco since its early beginnings. Medco has become a leader in the pharmacy benefits management industry, and with Citizens has secured billions in drug sales from unions, states and health plans.

In 2001, CitizensHealth launched a groundbreaking pilot program called CitizensHealth Rx, a drug discount program targeting the uninsured population, initially in Southern New England. Our program aimed to maximize savings on prescription drugs and other health care needs for seniors and other uninsured families and individuals who lack prescription drug coverage. More than 30,000 independent and chain pharmacies across the nation agreed to participate in our program. In addition, we developed strategic partnerships with top pharmaceutical companies to support the CitizensHealth program and deliver added value - providing deeper point-of-sale discounts on their portfolio of drugs to CitizensHealth members than those available through any other prescription discount program.

Today CitizensHealth offers 5-60% savings on healthcare related purchases from medical, dental, and vision care, to prescriptions and even alternative healthcare. CitizensHealth is making healthcare more affordable.
